The Portland Psychedelic Society Action Fund is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization.
We work to make policy on natural psychedelics reflect what communities already know - that safety comes from education, honesty, and care, not from prosecution.
“More education leads to more safety. More safety leads to more healing. That is the whole theory, and it is why we exist.”

In their words
“Our family was one of the main supporters of Measure 109, and we are excited to see this responsible and complementary policy advance in Portland, enabling responsible, self-regulating community use, and the mutual safety, support and accountability that involves.”
“This measure will be a major contribution to the community.”
“We’re in Washington State, and follow the work and regulatory advances in Portland and Oregon. Thank you, Oregonians, for your leadership!”
“Our small local manufacturing business supports this measure to add options for mental health care.”
An open letter in support of Ordinance 2026-186, the Psychedelic Health and Safety Code
We, the undersigned: Portland residents, physicians and health professionals, researchers, licensed facilitators, small business owners, and community organizations from across Oregon and beyond, write in strong support of Ordinance 2026-186, and we respectfully urge you to vote yes.
The ordinance is simple and sensible. It makes enforcement of laws against personal, non-commercial use, cultivation, gifting, and free community ceremonies involving naturally occurring psychedelic plants and fungi among the City’s lowest law enforcement priorities. It authorizes no sales and no commerce.

What this is
The Portland Psychedelic Health Act seeks to create more safety and education in psychedelics while making personal use of these natural substances a low priority for law enforcement in our city. This policy and movement acknowledges millennia-old, cross-cultural traditions of engaging with psychedelics for individual and community healing, building connectedness, creative expression, spiritual insight and personal growth, and supports the autonomy to explore one’s consciousness and connection to other humans and the Earth.
The healing potential of these plants is deeply interwoven with Indigenous communities all over the world who have been the protectors of psychedelic plant medicines for thousands of years, including them in culture, relationship to land and Indigenous science. More recently in the Global North, academic studies on natural psychedelics (like psilocybin mushrooms, ayahuasca brew, wachuma, mimosa tenuiflora) have continued to demonstrate that these plants have considerable potential in addressing mental health conditions like addiction, depression, end-of-life anxiety, and severe long term post-traumatic stress.
